Poe Giant 12

West of Horsburgh Lighthouse | Singapore

Temporary docks set up between a light house and a large vessel
Poe Giant 12 ran aground due to adverse sea conditions west of Horsburgh Lighthouse. The flat-top barge, carrying two bulk loader cranes and equipment on a voyage from Singapore to Kuantan, Malaysia, experienced significant starboard listing, posing an immediate threat to the lighthouse, nearby Singaporean government buildings, and personnel. Prompt evacuation of the lighthouse staff was executed.

Singapore's Marine and Port Authority commissioned Resolve Marine to initiate operations aimed at shifting the barge and its cargo to the port side and ultimately capsizing it in a manner that would safeguard the lighthouse and surrounding structures. Resolve Marine's initial focus was on stabilizing the barge and reducing the starboard list. Controlled demolition was achieved using shape charges to cut the two back legs and two supporting cross members of each crane. In a coordinated effort, each crane was rigged to a substantial tug, with each capable of pulling 100 tons in the desired direction.
